The EAR Foundation of Arizona

In 1971, Michael E. Glasscock, III, M.D. established The EAR Foundation in Nashville, TN. His objective was to bridge the gap between the hearing impaired and the world of hearing. Dr. Glasscock chose to establish the new Foundation with the partnership of Baptist Hospital in Nashville. He was correct in believing that Baptist Hospital would be one of the first neuroscience centers in the nation. A solid partnership has developed over the years even though both organizations are independent and have separate Boards of Directors.

John D. Macias, MD, completed a clinical fellowship at The EAR Foundation in Nashville. Following completion of his fellowship in otology, a surgical subspecialty of otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat specialty), Dr. Macias joined a medical practice in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1995, Dr. Macias received the permission of his professional mentors in Nashville to establish an affiliate chapter, The EAR Foundation of Arizona.

The EAR Foundation of Arizona has developed several successful and innovative programs in its short history and has greatly benefited from generous grants and gifts from St. Luke's Health Initiatives, The Arizona Community Foundation, Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, The Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, the Wallace Foundation, the Getz Foundation, Arizona Hearing Resources, National Organization for Hearing Research, The Bruce T. Halle Family Foundation and private donors.
