Dr. Peter H. Nutley passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, on Wednesday,
March 26, 2008. He was 65. He is survived by his wife of 42 years,
Nancy; his daughters, Jennifer Nutley MacLennan and Cynthia Nutley;
his son-in-law, Grant; and his grandchildren, Logan, Meredith,
Marissa, and Natasha. He also is survived by his beloved family
in Chicago, Illinois, including his father, Peter H. Nutley Sr.,
and his sisters and brothers, Candy, Denny, Charles and Rosie,
Mary and Debbie; his in-laws, Edward and Jean, Donna and Rex,
and Janet and Joe; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by his mother, Mary Nutley. Dr. Nutley opened his practice
in 1974 and took great pride and pleasure in having practiced
his art in Phoenix for more than 33 years. His practice thrived
with the help of Cheryl and Stephanie, whom he held dear. Dr.
Nutley was dedicated to his patients and to their care in his
chosen field of Otolaryngology. He was honored to have been repeatedly
named by his peers in local and national publications as one of
the top physicians in Phoenix, including this year's Phoenix Magazine.
He served as a leader in the hospitals at which he practiced,
holding such positions as Chief of Staff at Banner Good Samaritan,
Chief of Otolaryngology at St Joseph's Hospital, and Chief of
Surgery and Chief of Staff at Humana. He was proud of having served
as an officer in the United States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina,
where he was chief medical officer of Otolaryngology for the 82nd
Airborne Unit and other companies. Dr. Nutley's greatest joy in
life blossomed out of the family he created. He was a passionate
food connoisseur, read voraciously, golfed competitively, and
treasured bantering with his colleagues and friends about politics
and religion. His life was defined by his devotion to his wife
Nancy and his family. Public visitation will be held from 5 to
8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1st, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home,
